In January 2022, Boston Police John O'Keefe officer was discovered dead in a snowbank next to the home of his colleague in the Boston suburb of Canton following a party at the house. The death was ruled a homicide due with the fact that he had suffered injuries consistent with an assault. His girlfriend Karen Read stands accused of the murder. She faces a life sentence if convicted.
The prosecution claims Read killed O'Keefe in a domestic dispute by striking him with her vehicle and leaving him, immobilized, to freeze in a snowbank. Read's defense claims that O'Keefe was murdered by his fellow officers, his colleagues who in conjunction with the prosecution have concocted a plan to divert the blame and pin the killing on her.
Perhaps I should - and one day will - go into this case in more detail. Meanwhile you can read about it at the links below and elsewhere. At the moment, I will just say that prosecution's scenario is hypothetically possible as scenarios of this nature do materialize in real life on occasion. But so is the defense's scenario as official corruption also does happen in the real world. The defense's scenario is additionally boosted by the fact that the prosecution appears to drag its feet in releasing potentially exonerating evidence.
But what I will state is this: we may very well have an official conspiracy in a case whose scope is limited to just a city police service and perhaps a few bad apples in the prosecutor's office. It is not insane to discuss these possibilities. And yet somehow we are told that those who suspect official corruption and related conspiracies in situation like the 9/11 attacks, the 2008 banking crisis, the COVID pandemic, the Kennedy assassination and the like are crazy conspiracy theorists. We are expected to blindly reject such people's activities even though powers potentially involved as well as potential benefits to them are incalculably higher.
This is not to say that every hypothesis asserting secret dealings and criminal conspiracies, especially among those in power, is reasonable. Each and every hypothesis needs to be assessed on its own merits. But if you are ever labeled a "crazy conspiracy theorist" by those who would not even hear what you have to say you should not take that for anything even closely resembling a reasonable response. You might even want to take that as a badge of honor.
As always - do your own research, use your own brain, draw your own conclusions.
