As the COVID pandemic progressed around the world there seemed to be so many things we were told by the officialdom that were presented as things we were expected to just accept and not question: the virus was deadly, we had to mask up and stay away from others as much as possible, we had to wait for a vaccine and not expect any help from any other treatment - and, of course, we were to "trust the science" and not question it as there is such a gap in the knowledge possessed by the scientists and us the lay folk that questioning it was just entirely inappropriate. As the time went by, these pronouncements were repeatedly challenged - both by the facts on the ground and then oftentimes even by those groups who had originally issued such pronouncements. The vaccine turned out to be less than 100% effective - the whole "you won't get it if you are vaccinated, nor will you give it to anyone if you are vaccinated" idea is now known to be false. Most vaccinated areas somehow ended up being the ones with the highest infection counts. Proper scientific study dared raise the issue of the vaccine safety. And now a recent Medscape UK study basically states that, at least in healthcare settings, masks did little to nothing to stop the transmission of the virus.
Of course, skeptics - yours truly included - doubted most of these notions since early on in the pandemic. But never mind lay skeptics - if you wish to "trust the science", some rather commonsensical science is rapidly emerging now which, I must say, may well be worth trusting.
This is just one more "I told you so" skeptics can add to their collection.
As usual - do your own research, use your own brain, reach your own conclusions.
