In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, a consensus was formed in the mainstream medical and bureaucratic community that no medicinal treatment of the disease was available and the only avenue open to medical professionals was supporting patients as best as they can and await the arrival of vaccines that would help get the pandemic under control. Some people who argued otherwise and tied to come up with, and practice alternative treatment protocols were ridiculed, called "crazy conspiracy theorists", denigrated, and so on. Some medical professionals lost who strayed from the herd were also ridiculed, fired, stripped of licenses, threatened with prosecution, objective effectiveness of their treatment methods notwithstanding.
By now we have a drastically different picture. We have Dr Anthony Faucci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases publishing a paper effectively stating that there was little chance, if any, of a virus like SARS-CoV-2 ever being controlled of a vaccine. We have major drug manufacturers working on medicinal treatments for COVID. And we have even the majority of deaths from COVID in the vaccinated individuals in the US. so no, those vaccines don't do all that much to keep you from getting COVID or dying from it.
But was there ever a reason to believe that vaccines were the only hope to avoid getting infected with COVID or experiencing it in a severe, or even lethal, form? Hardly so. Budesonide, a hormone often used to control the COPD, used in the form of a spray, cuts the severity of COVID down by about a quarter. The doctors noticed that early in the pandemic and there are now papers published confirming that. And a nasal wash of the mouth and nasal cavity - yes, just a nasal wash - initiated within the first 24 hours of the onset of COVID symptoms can cut the risk of a severe outcome 8 times!
So no, vaccine is not your only option and never was. As to those who promoted it as such - the task now is to determine whether they did that as part of a deliberate deception or simply out of ignorance or arrogance. Either way, if you still trust the "vaccine cult" you are not acting wisely, or in your own best interest.
